How did you get involved in the Foodservice Industry? Hired by a Dallas area restaurant in 1975 as a waiter
Describe the best foodservice job that you have done? You mean besides the one I have now? I was the Buyer for the catering/concession provider at the Dallas Convention Center back in the early 90’s. Really enjoyed the behind-the-scenes view of all the events that went on there.
What’s the greatest advice you have been given about this industry? Always try and treat others with respect and remember to “shut up and listen”.
If you weren’t in foodservice, what other industries do you have an interest in? At my age (62), I’m obviously closer to the end of my career than the start, but I did spend two years right out of college teaching history / civics and coaching high school basketball. Really enjoyed it but couldn’t make enough money to make ends meet. Nowadays I might enjoy coaching a high school golf team.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Getting my Master’s degree while working full-time and surviving two bouts of throat cancer (10+ years cancer free).
